From January 25 to 30, 2026, the Max Planck Science Policy Winter School 2026 took place at the Harnack-Haus in Berlin. The aim of the event was to bridge the gap between science and politics. Through lectures, workshops, excursions, and discussion rounds, young researchers gained insights into the political framework and structures and were able to exchange ideas with experts on science policy at the European, national, and institutional levels. As part of an interactive session, Dr. Katharina Sielemann, Synthesis and Communication Officer at the Helmholtz Forum Earth and Environment, gave a Lightning Talk on interfaces in the German political landscape, followed by a speed-dating activity, in which questions of the participants were discussed.
